8-Day Uganda Safari — The Ultimate Grand Safari

The 8-Day Ultimate Uganda Grand Safari is the most complete and rewarding way to experience the Pearl of Africa — a sweeping, carefully crafted journey across Uganda’s finest wildlife destinations, from the thundering waters of the north to the mist-wrapped mountain gorilla forests of the south.

This grand safari combines the very best of everything Uganda has to offer: white rhino tracking at Ziwa Sanctuary, big game drives and a Nile boat cruise in Murchison Falls National Park, chimpanzee trekking in the jungles of Kibale Forest, the legendary Kazinga Channel cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park, and the crowning glory of mountain gorilla trekking deep in the ancient heart of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Crossing open savannahs, ancient rainforests, volcanic crater lakes, and rural countryside alive with culture and colour, this eight-day journey captures the full, extraordinary breadth of a country that has everything. For travellers who refuse to choose between primates and predators, between adventure and serenity, between wilderness and wonder — this is the safari that has it all.

Day 1 — Arrival in Entebbe & Kampala City Orientation Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and meet your professional driver guide. Transfer to Kampala, Uganda’s vibrant and bustling capital city, for a short orientation — visiting the Kasubi Tombs, Nakasero Market, and the city’s lively streets before settling into your hotel for dinner. This evening is your first taste of Uganda’s warmth, energy, and spirit. Overnight in Kampala.

Day 2 — Kampala to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary & Murchison Falls Depart Kampala early and drive north through Uganda’s lush green countryside. Stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a thrilling rhino tracking experience on foot — the only place in Uganda where you can encounter wild white rhinos in their natural habitat, guided by expert rangers through open grassland at remarkably close range. Continue north to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest protected area, arriving in time for a late afternoon game drive across the park’s sweeping northern plains. Check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Murchison Falls.

Day 3 — Murchison Falls Game Drives & Nile Boat Cruise Rise before dawn for a full morning game drive through Murchison Falls National Park — scanning vast open grasslands and acacia woodland for lions, elephants, giraffes, leopards, buffalos, and Uganda kob. After lunch at your lodge, board a boat for an unforgettable afternoon cruise along the Nile River to the thundering base of Murchison Falls, where the entire Nile squeezes through an eight-metre gorge in an extraordinary wall of white water and thunder. Watch hippos, crocodiles, and hundreds of bird species crowd the riverbanks as the falls roar magnificently above you. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight at Murchison Falls.

Day 4 — Murchison Falls to Kibale Forest National Park After a final early morning game drive, depart Murchison Falls and drive south towards Kibale Forest National Park, passing through the rolling countryside and crater lake district of western Uganda — one of the most scenically beautiful drives in East Africa. Arrive at your Kibale lodge in the late afternoon, enjoy dinner, and prepare for your chimpanzee trekking adventure the following morning. Overnight at Kibale.

Day 5 — Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Wetland Walk Rise early for breakfast before heading to Kibale Forest National Park headquarters for your morning briefing. Enter the ancient mahogany forest with an experienced ranger guide and begin tracking one of Kibale’s habituated chimpanzee communities — listening for their calls ringing through the canopy before coming face to face with these remarkable and intelligent creatures in their natural world. Spend one unforgettable hour in their company. Return to lodge for lunch, then join an afternoon guided walk through Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-managed reserve teeming with birds, primates, and extraordinary plant life. Overnight at Kibale.

Day 6 — Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park Depart Kibale after breakfast and drive south to Queen Elizabeth National Park — Uganda’s most celebrated savannah park, stretching dramatically across the floor of the Albertine Rift Valley. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive through the famous Kasenyi Plains, where large elephant herds, buffalo, and Uganda kob graze across the open grassland and lions stalk through the golden light of late afternoon. Check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Queen Elizabeth.

Day 7 — Kazinga Channel Cruise & Drive to Bwindi Begin the morning with Queen Elizabeth National Park’s most iconic experience — a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, the wide natural waterway connecting Lakes Edward and George. Drift past enormous pods of hippos, basking crocodiles, and thousands of water birds while elephants and buffalo wade at the water’s edge. After lunch, depart Queen Elizabeth and drive south through the dramatic landscapes of southwestern Uganda towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, arriving in time for dinner as the sounds of the ancient jungle welcome you. Overnight at Bwindi.

Day 8 — Mountain Gorilla Trekking & Return to Entebbe The final and most extraordinary day of the grand safari. Rise before dawn for an early breakfast before transferring to your designated trekking sector headquarters. Register, receive your briefing, and enter the dense and ancient forest with your ranger guide in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. Through tangled undergrowth, across steep ridges, and beneath a towering canopy of ancient trees, the trek unfolds until the moment arrives — a silverback, commanding and magnificent, watching over his family with quiet authority while youngsters tumble and play around him. Spend one full, breathtaking hour in their presence. Return to park headquarters to receive your Gorilla Tracking Certificate.

Depart Bwindi and drive to Entebbe, arriving by evening for your international departure, carrying with you the memories of one of Africa’s greatest journeys.
