Her work, immortalised in her book Gorillas in the Mist and the subsequent Hollywood film, transformed the world’s understanding of mountain gorillas and sparked a global conservation movement that continues to this day.

Peak Season — June to September & December to February The dry seasons bring clearer skies, firmer forest trails, and the best photographic conditions. This is also the busiest period for tourism, and gorilla permits sell out months in advance. Early booking is essential.
Low Season — March to May & October to November The rainy seasons bring lush, dramatically green landscapes and significantly fewer visitors, creating an even more intimate and atmospheric trekking experience.
